About Us:
Characterized by their signature vocal harmonies and progressive pop/rock melodies, Woodward offers listeners a distinct and fresh sound in comparison to contemporary rock acts. Highlighted by the alluring vocal exchange of John-Paul Zammit (guitar/vox) and Dan Karmel (bass/vox), the backbone of Woodward's overall energy is driven by the drumming vigor of Dave Tilove, combining an influence of vintage pop with a modern rock edge. Accentuated by the predominantly synth-driven keyboard play of Steve Hull, Woodward integrates a fresh perspective on styles reminiscent of classic rock and pop.
With comparisons ranging from the Ramones and the Beatles, to such contemporaries as a "less-adenoidal Weezer," Woodward is recognized as a tremendously talented live act, who expresses a desire to not take themselves too seriously, and deliver a highly energetic performance with a unique dynamic emphasized by their 4 part vocal harmonies, playful on-stage chemistry, and engaging crowd interaction.
Creating upbeat, positive music Woodward is a band whose music is enjoyed by an eclectic range of music lovers.
Having performed at such nationally renowned venues as Saint Andrew's Hall in Detroit and the Knitting Factory in New York City, Woodward has also opened for Fueled By Ramen recording artist The Hush Sound, as well as Bryan Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe.
Currently, Woodward is touring independently in support of their first full length commercial release ...But Your Kids Are Gonna Love It, expanding upon their already established regional fan base, while breaking into new markets across the country.
As Woodward's first commercial release, ...But Your Kids Are Gonna Love It is a snappy, up-tempo album that delivers dynamics, sophistication, and a level of fun that is seldom seen in most modern rock. Standout tracks like Take It Back and Find The Words exemplify the band's personality and trademark sound, while the poppier, piano driven Days You Come From and socially reflective Rest Your Head highlight the bands unique range and diversity on the album.
Engineered and mixed by Jeff Robinson (Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Rembrandts, Static-X) at Third Monk Records in Plymouth, MI, produced by Robinson and Woodward, and mastered by two-time Grammy Award-Winner Gavin Lurssen, (Johnny Cash, Garden State soundtrack), ...But Your Kids are Gonna Love It announces the debut of a tremendously talented young band with the potential to offer fans years of great music, and performances as they continue to expand and grow as musicians.
