About Us:
He's ready to put his dreams to music. Born Charles Wiles in Utica, Michigan on March 14, 1980. He certainly did not know that back when he was six years old either running around the house singing or singing in the back seat of the car that he would some day have to break-up with his first love and only than expose a natural born gift hidden deep inside and bring it to life. On his thirteenth birthday his parents bought him his first guitar and with influence from his Grandfather's "Hillbilly music" Charles began his self taught career. Taking inspirational Influences from artist like John Mayer with his cleaver lyrics or the band Dashboard Confessional with a passion that Charles has never heard before and of coarse Howie Day with a purely simple style that gets right to the point of what he wants to say and among others Dave Mathews with his brilliant song writing ability.
After graduation from Utica High School a passion for drawing lead him to ITT Technical Institute to pursue a career in computer aided drafting. After a few years of school and working a full time with a job that included much travel Charles decided that maybe this was a dead end and it was time for a change. But it was after college that his love for music came to life.
After a long relationship that ended with a devastating break-up he then realized that his music would become his outlet for his emotions. By putting these feelings down in writing would release a total weight off his shoulders. Then taking those words and putting them to music transforms hardships and pain into beauty. If by telling these stories through his music can make a difference in someone else’s life or just "right a wrong is just about the best feeling in the world" says Charles. With these heighten sense of emotions around him the beauty of his song will always prevail. If it means calling his own voice mail or writing notes on his hand he will never let these inspired words escape his mind.
The song "Three One Two" which is the first track on the CD evolved when Charles betrayed his best friend Rick by breaking a promise not to interfere with Rick's good friend. But for Charles love said otherwise and after a year of not speaking it was time to ask Rick for forgiveness. Thus the inspiration for this song.
The second song "Right Here" inspiration comes from a past on going relationship with a very close friend in witch he had the opportunity to do different things in life and just plane be close, loving and enjoy the moment.
The fourth song "Above Your Bed" is Charles first written song. Feelings of expression during this relationship and break-up made these lyric's easy to write. "Good night sweet dreams and I love you" are words that Charles actually wrote on her ceiling above her bed in her college dorm room. It was then that he knew there were feelings within and had to be expressed in song.
The seventh song "Walk Away" evolved from a relationship that was brought together by a blind date. After three or four more dates Charles decided that the relationship was growing way to fast for him. After many sleepless nights on how to make this work he decided to tell her that things were going faster than he was comfortable with and his feelings were not the same as hers and the best for both would be for her to just walk away.
Playing at numerous "open mike nights" like the "Blue Note Cafe" in Pontiac Michigan, the "Deli Pub" in Atlanta Georgia, "Margaritaville" in Las Vegas, "Wooly’s" in Chicago and "Mezzanotte" in New York along with many other opportunities to play live served as the perfect environment to overcome those onstage nerves and become comfortable playing to a crowd of people. It was then Charles decided to enhance his music by adding an eight track digital recording studio. With pre-recorded bass and drum beats behind him his music truly came alive.
Now with 5 years of experience, the encouragement from family, friends and his growing fan base it was time to go to a local recording studio and get this stuff down. So with help through a good friend Charles hooked up with a local mixer named Jason who has a "Home Studio" in Warren, Michigan. Equipped with a Mac and Pro Tools it was time to go to work. Taking co-production credits Charles helped arrange all drum, bass and string tracks on the cd. A team effort all the way, Jason seen Charles production abilities and took the "Here's want I can do tell me what you want" attitude. After 2 weeks in the studio the songs were complete and the cd was ready for it's introduction.
In closing Charles passion for his music allows him to project his feelings through his music. Many life changing experiences were accomplished through words put to music and they truly make a difference in people’s lives. Charles says "if I can make my living doing what I enjoy most and if along the way maybe help reshape just one persons life then what more can I ask for".
